Windows 365 Link – What’s the fuzz all about?

Ola Ström is a Windows and Devices MVP. He wrote an great post on Microsoft’s first Cloud PC device, purpose-built to connect to Windows 365 securely.

“One of the things that it felt like a lot of people during Microsoft Ignite were really excited about, at least people working in the device management space, was the announcement of Windows 365 Link. A small black box with the Microsoft logo on it.

What I do think, after seeing a lot of posts on social media about it, is that some people didn’t exactly get what it is (but they were still excited). There were talk about “What’s the performance on this thing?”, “Can I use it as a media center?” and “Those are only legacy ports”.

Well this isn’t your regular computer. This is what the IT business has defined as a thin client for several years, but done in a more Microsoft way! And that is actually the reason I’m excited. It’s a Microsoft device, running Windows, which we can use for ONLY connecting to the Windows 365.

Let’s dig into what this device is, and what it isn’t!

Managing Seasonal Workforce with Windows 365 Frontline

Florian Salzmann is a Security MVP. He wrote an excellent post on managing a seasonal workforce with Windows 365 Frontline.

“It’s the busiest time of year in Santa’s Workshop, where elves are working tirelessly to prepare toys for children worldwide. With an ever-growing demand and a seasonal workforce that swells dramatically, Santa needs a reliable and scalable way to manage his operations. That’s where Windows 365 Frontline comes in – a cloud-based PC service designed to meet the needs of dynamic, part-time, and seasonal workers.”

Enhancing your ability to move Windows 365 Cloud PCs

The Cloud PC move capability for Windows 365 on Microsoft Intune enables administrators to move their devices from one region or Azure network connection (ANC) to another. We’ve launched three new enhancements to this capability: granular move, enhanced tracking and reporting, and support for Windows 365 Frontline. These enhancements will be rolled out gradually, and they will reach all customers by the end of January 2025.
